Synovial and ganglion cysts, called juxtafacet cysts, are rare intraspinal lesions that can mimic radicular symptoms in disc herniotions. Ganglion cysts are an uncommon pathology which usually occur in the lumbar spine. These cysts can often result in slow-onset chronic progressive radiculopathy or back pain due to the compression of the spinal canal. Based on the results of magnetic resonance imaging, a 52- year- old woman who presented with low back and left leg pain was diagnosed with L4-5 lumbar ganglion cyst. The cystic mass was completely excised from after the L4 partial hemilaminectomy. The symptoms and neurologic findings detected after surgery indicated some improvements.
