Abstract

A cause of obstructive hydrocephalus is aqueductal stenosis. A special case of aqueductal stenosis is the aqueductal web and it results on the hydrocephalus. We present a case of 2-year-old child presented with macrocephaly and increased intracranial pressure. MR imaging revealed triventricular hydrocephalus associated with aqueaductal web. Hydrocephalus is treated by endoscopic third ventriculostomy. The clinical findings completely resolved after third ventriculostomy. Postoperative brain MR showed the signal void extending from the third ventricle into the supracellar cistern. Ventricular size was not changed. Cine phase-contrast MR imaging showed patency of the ventriculostomy. Postoperative follow-up may rely primarily on resolution of clinical symptoms, brain MR, and cine phase-contrast MR imaging.
