Ankylosing spondilitis (AS) is an ankylosing disease characterized by chronic inflammation, and abnormal ossification of the spinal cord, and sacroiliac joints. In patients with AS, the risk of development of traumatic spinal cord fracture, and spinal epidural hematoma have increased when compared with the normal population. Osteoporosis developed secondary to AS, and abnormal mechanical properties of rigid spinal cordre responsible for this condition. In this case report a patient with AS in whom cervical fracture, and spinal epidural hematoma is presented. Our aim is to emphasize that even simple traumas can cause more severe neurological injuries.
